Overview

The Steward Manager has the responsibility of overseeing the stewarding team and ensuring that the property is clean, organized and adequately staffed. As the Steward Manager, you will be responsible for creating a weekly schedule, ordering supplies, and communicating with the stewarding staff and management. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing feedback and ensuring the team members are following service standards, educating and advising team members on their performance, scheduling new team members for training, and ensuring they are provided with the proper equipment and uniforms. This role requires flexible availability to work during the evening and day shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
    Supervise the duties of all stewarding department employees, facilities, operation and costs.
  • Create a weekly schedule and oversee staffing levels while following budgeted guidelines.
  • Responsible for managing the time and attendance in the payroll system to meet deadlines for payroll.
  • Birchstreet ordering for supplies and chemicals as needed.
  • Invoice receiving of supplies ordered.
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety standards by following all OSHA, Department of Health, and company rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used.
  • Responsible to maintain records of all SDS sheets.
  • Supervise the sanitation, cleanliness, hygiene as well as the quality of product and services.
  • Report any faulty equipment to management immediately.
  • Conduct daily walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness of the property.
  • Conduct daily departmental meetings to direct and assist Stewards to get feedback and identify their needs.
  • Ensure the back of house, kitchen outlets, back docks, dumpsters, utility work areas including the Luau areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards and cleaning schedules are followed and completed.
  • Direct and assist Stewards in order to make clean up more efficient.
  • Ensure water temperature, and chemical levels are appropriate for cleaning and documented.
  • Assist with Banquet plate-ups and buffet transporting and ensuring adequate stock.
  • Assist Executive Chef and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a manager/supervisory role.
  • Previous experience in stewarding or in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and cleaning materials.
  • Knowledge of proper safe handling techniques for all chemicals used.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team effectively under the general supervision of the Executive Chef.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in the English language.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must have computer skills and knowledge of computer programs including MS Office/Word/Excel, etc.
  • Availability to work flexible scheduling during evening and day shifts consistently, including weekends and holidays.
