Overview

The Geospatial Technician will work as part of the stereo compilation team in our production facility located in Dulles, VA to support multiple projects and programs.  The successful candidate will work within a 3D stereoscopic environment to identify and compile planimetric and topographic features from imagery and ancillary sources to provide accurate datasets to client standards. The position will include training by team members on proper techniques in stereo compilation and standardized team processes.

 

Location:  Regional office in Dulles, VA

Responsibilities

  • Measure and collect digital vector features for topographical maps from aerial photography using digital stereo workstations to develop digital terrain models (DTMs)
  • Uses photogrammetric software and hardware to achieve the required interior, relative and absolute orientations of imagery
  • Archives digitally collected data using network software
  • Maintains documentation of features and data collected, times, and quality control
  • Performs other duties as required

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications and Position Requirements: 

  • Knowledge of digital geospatial software: DAT/EM Summit Evolution, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS or equivalent
  • Stereo vision acuity to measure and see 3D imagery and features
  • Good hand eye (both hands) coordination to manipulate specialized computer mouse.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Attention to detail and ability to stay focused
  • Strong math skills        
  • Associates degree (commensurate training and experience can be substituted for degree)

 Preferred Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering program
  • 1-2+ years’ experience in a technical, professional work environment using digital geospatial software: DAT/EM Summit Evolution, Socet Set, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS or equivalent
  • Experience in photogrammetry, surveying, cartography, civil engineering or related fields
  • Applicable technical training or professional certification
