Company Overview

Since 2004, Environmental Incentives has been helping clients worldwide improve the performance and sustainability of their conservation and development programs.

Where it all began

We started as a small business consulting firm, helping regulators in California and Nevada make better use of public funds to halt the deterioration of Lake Tahoe’s famous water clarity. That led to projects such as pioneering Mitigation Credit Agreements that align infrastructure development with conservation in Sacramento, CA. And then working across multiple western states to develop Pay-for-Performance models that incentivize conservation on working lands. Other projects to date.

Expanding internationally

Today, we have six offices across the U.S., South America, and Africa, as well as field staff working with partners in 26 countries. In 2012, we brought our performance-driven conservation approach to the international stage, supporting USAID in measuring and improving the impact of its biodiversity conservation programs worldwide. Since that time, we’ve added a range of additional programs and partners to our international portfolio—including several USAID projects designed to strengthen knowledge management and learning around energy, environment, and water, sanitation, and hygiene.

Across the globe, we partner with program managers and funders to improve their effectiveness in biodiversity and habitat conservation; stormwater management; water, sanitation, and hygiene services; climate change and energy adaptation; and sustainable infrastructure development.
