Extrusion Operator

The Extrusion Operator has the responsibility of maintaining and correcting the extrusion processes of the machine while maximizing production. The operator must work safely and ensure quality on the line assigned. This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor.

How You'll Perform the Role

  • Work safely and ensure others in department are working safely by being aware of and follow all safety policies, including personal protection equipment, lock-out/tag-out, housekeeping, hazard communication, incident reporting, MSDS, etc.
  • Maintain 5S and cleaning requirements.
  • Must be able to understand and be accountable for all product quality requirements.
  • Must be able to complete operator training modules and pass written and practical tests.
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining running conditions of the extrusion machine including but not limited to all change overs, start up, shutdown and line clear procedures as well as maintaining proper material levels and flow.
  • Responsible to assist with required PM functions and reporting any equipment problems for repair.
  • Responsible to assist in training of assistants and other operators working on the machine in product specifications, housekeeping standards and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot quality and processing problems and make corrections accordingly
  • Complete production reports and all paperwork as assigned
  • Assist with coverage for vacations, illnesses on current shift or other shifts as assigned.

What We Need From You

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be forklift certified by WNA (valid drivers license required)
  • Must be certified as an Operator trainee or operator currently
  • Good attendance and punctuality required
  • Ability to work well in a team environment & motivate others within the team
  • Positive attitude and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Must demonstrate mechanical ability
  • Normal Dexterity & Climbing Requirements
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently and up to 70 lbs as required while using team approach.
  • Basic computer skills - data entry and process control inputs and monitors.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete necessary paperwork for production.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to apply concepts of percentages, fractions, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction.
