Responsibilities

The Operational Monitoring - Mid Level role will be based in the DC/Metro region and tele-work may be available. Selected candidate must be able to support occasional travel as necessary.

Role and Responsibilities:

    Monitoring of agency network, servers, and business systems (both physical and virtual) to identify and resolve critical issues affecting network and system connectivity and continuity of operations.
  • Monitoring all communications connectivity as well as the devices that terminate communications links, to ensure uninterrupted communications in compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Performing continuous monitoring, event detection and escalation, risk mitigation, and incident avoidance to ensure the security and stability of the entire agency infrastructure.
  • Managing the operation of the IP switched/routed LAN, monitoring LAN device security logs, identifying potential security violations and problem with device configuration.
  • Monitoring and tracking the performance and incidents of hosted server and/or router hardware on a regular basis, and documenting and reporting relevant trends and when appropriate, recommending hardware upgrades to respond to performance trends.
  • Proactively monitoring for a high availability configuration for critical applications and production servers supporting continued operation if either data center were lost.

This role is contingent upon contract award.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification:

  • High School level and minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience monitoring network and system devices to include servers, routers, and switches.
  • Experience with ticket management systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy.
  • Experience working within a Tier 1 or Tier 2 customer support operations such as a Service Desk, Network or Systems Operations Center.
  • Ability to provide 24x7x365 Tier-2 network or system monitoring services; ability to work after hours or weekend.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen; eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Highly self-motivated and adaptable to learning and understanding new technologies.

Target Salary Range
$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
