Job Summary
B&A is seeking a skilled Oracle Application Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and security of Oracle databases supporting critical business applications. This role requires expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle database software and related components.
  • Create and maintain Oracle databases to support business applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing.
  • Monitor and tune database performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Plan and implement database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
  • Manage database storage, including capacity planning, file system management, and data file optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including database errors, performance problems, and connectivity issues.
  • Collaborate with application developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database requirements for new and existing applications.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on Oracle database releases, patches, and security advisories.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification required
Required Skills
  • Proven experience as an Oracle database administrator, with expertise in Oracle Database 11g, 12c, and 19c.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, including database instance, schema, tablespaces, and data files.
  • Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming languages.
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database monitoring and management.
  • Knowledge of database security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with database backup and recovery solutions, such as Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Desired Skills
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification in database administration.
  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
  • Knowledge of Oracle Data Guard for database disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Exadata or other engineered systems.
  • Understanding of cloud database platforms, such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, or Azure.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with database virtualization technologies, such as Oracle Virtual Machine (VM) or VMware.
  • Ability to automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python).
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of database administration.
Security Clearance
  • Must be able to pass a NACL background investigation
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required
