General Information

Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Service, the Roustabout B (Facilities Technician) assists with and performs general facility up-keep and minor repairs to equipment and facilities components.

*This position is represented by theUSW Local 628and the filling of the position is subject to the terms and conditions of the governing collective agreement.

*We anticipate filling this position locally, therefore it is not eligible for cross-border or domestic relocation programs.

Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Facility Lead:

  • Perform general facility upkeep including maintaining light fixtures, replacing ceiling tile, replacing carpet, miscellaneous painting, cleaning and other activities required to maintain TC Energy facilities Maintains inventory of spare parts, materials and chemicals used at the facility
  • Uses hand and power tools, such as, electric drills, vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, paint brushes, scrubbing brushes, and mops
  • Provides service to keep building, grounds and parking lots clean, neat, and attractive by performing duties such as maintaining lawn area by cutting grass, weeding, fertilizing, and reseeding, landscaping snow removal
  • Maintains auxiliary structures above ground by painting of piping and exposed metalwork
  • Operates forklift and to move, load, and unload materials and documents
  • Assists archives with the physical movement of records and documents
  • Assists with office and furniture moves and logistics related to special arrangements of the cafeteria and auditorium to accommodate various public and civic group functions during and outside of normal business hours as needed
  • Deliver facility mail and packages
  • Assists with inspections, visually and mechanically, and performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs and adjustments to handling equipment, pumps, electric motors, air conditioning equipment, electric engine generator plant, plumbing equipment, air compressor, pneumatic control system. Exercises equipment to keep same in state of readiness: Travel to other locations under the direction of facilities to perform like tasks at remote locations
  • All other assigned tasks as required.

Qualifications and Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Trade certificate or technical diploma preferred.
  • Formal training or experience in commercial HVAC, plumbing, or other general maintenance disciplines preferred.

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Be available for overtime, extended work hours including weekends, and callouts as needed
  • Be available for weekend shift rotation as required
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home
