Overview / Job Summary:
The Instructional Technologist is responsible for providing support and guidance to faculty and staff in the integration of technology into the curriculum and instruction. The Instructional Technologist works collaboratively with faculty to design and develop effective instructional materials and educational technology solutions that enhance student learning outcomes.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
  • Ensure all instructional technologies and products are student and faculty-centered in accordance with the WSU Tech Course Standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design, develop,and implement technology-enhanced learning activities, assessments, and resources.
  • Provide training, technical support, and consultation to faculty, staff, and students on the use of educational technology tools and software.
  • Provide support for events, pod/vodcasting, graphics, animation, and media design as required.
  • Develop/create instructional video content that supports curricular requirements.
  • Develop and maintain instructional resources, such as user guides, tutorials, and online help documentation.
Support the Hyflex Learning Spaces across campuses, develop and maintain instructional resources like user guides and tutorials, and keep abreast of emerging trends in instructional technology to enhance the learning experience for both students and faculty. Engage in research and evaluation projects regarding instructional technology's impact on student learning outcomes. Assist in selecting and acquiring instructional technology tools, manage projects related to instructional technology, and collaborate with various departments to implement technology solutions aligning with institutional instructional goals. Also, ensure information on the Innovation Café is current and provide support for the Collaboration Lab (CoLab) as needed.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or related field required, Masters preferred.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles, pedagogical practices, and assessment methods required.
  • 3 years’ experience in instructional design, technology integration, or related field, preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of educational technology tools and software, such as learning management systems, e-learning authoring tools, multimedia production software, and web conferencing tools.
  • Project management skills, experience in leading technology-related projects and analytical & research skills preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
