Responsibilities

Database Administrators at the NSA design, develop, test, and deliver database systems. They manage life cycle support of database systems. Typical tasks include applying patches and upgrades, diagnosing and resolving problems, monitoring and improving performance. Our Database Administrators migrate data from legacy systems to modern systems and design and manage backup and recovery processes and continuity of operations plans. Database Administrators select appropriate database technologies for specific requirements, such as online transaction processing systems (OLTP), decision support systems (DSS), data warehouses, object-oriented or other non-relational data stores, real-time systems, and mass storage systems. They acquire data, coordinate data flow, and promote data quality.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in a Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field. Technical/vocational or military training certificate in a computer-related field is an acceptable substitute for the Associate Degree. Relevant experience must be in database development, administration, maintenance, and systems administration. Additional experience can include application administration, information technology support, or management. ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL Entry is with a high school diploma or GED and no experience. FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. SENIOR Entry is with a high school diploma or GED plus 6 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.

The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for experiential learning and strong problem-solving, analytic and interpersonal skills who is: -experienced in programming languages such as SQL, Python, C# and different types of database administration such as Oracle and Mongo -willing to take the initiative -innovative -able to work effectively across several different functional areas in a collaborative environment -able to communicate effectively (both orally and written) -well-organized and able to handle multiple assignments

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Pay: Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary Range: $34,121 - $153,354 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance, Senior) Salary range varies by location, work level, and relevant experience to the position. On the job training, internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirement between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. (flexible).
