What You Can Expect

As our Project Developer, you will support a broad range of pre-construction development activities on projects within ENGIE's portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects across the United States and Canada. Your daily task will include working on all aspects of early to late-stage project development, such as local, state, and federal permitting, public and stakeholder engagement, public hearings, environmental site assessment, and project financing due diligence support. You will work closely with land and greenfield teams, interconnection experts, as well as pre-construction, engineering and project delivery departments, and other aspects of wind , solar and storage project development to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America. This role offers flexibility in location, with options in either Santa Barbara, CA, Chicago, IL Denver, CO or Houston, TX.

The Development Associates and Project Developers will support the development team in order to:

  • Manage and actively drive development activities of utility-scale solar , wind and storage projects from feasibility to the start of construction
  • Manage all aspects of environmental site assessment, permitting, transmission/interconnection, land acquisition, and design activities in close collaboration with SMEs
  • Engage consultants, review their findings, and ensure implementation
  • Research new industry developments, tax incentives, technologies, etc.
  • Manage permit application preparation and attend public permitting hearings
  • Manage agency and AHJ submittals and interactions on local, state, and federal level
  • Develop project model underwriting assumptions in alignment with investment criteria and off-take origination efforts
  • Engage with landowners and stakeholders to keep them informed throughout the development process, including attending community engagement events
  • Maintain database tracking project progress
  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project M&A discussions and document preparation
  • Prepare investment presentation materials for ENGIE investment committees
  • Review project pro forma financial models to understand how returns are impacted
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers

What You'll Bring

  • A minimum of two to five (2-5) years related experience, preferably in renewable energy development or other fields of project development with the ability to navigate permitting processes and community involvement.
  • You are detail-oriented individual who will proactively pursue required information
  • Skilled in project management with the ability to multi-task and prioritize critical path tasks
  • You are highly capable of working constructively and maintaining good relationships with public officials and agencies
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential offtakers, government officials, and corporate leaders
  • Results-oriented professional with the ability to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel to remote project locations up to 25-30% of time. Need to travel will fluctuate depending on project stage

  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
  • Must be available to travel domestically / internationally up to 30% of the time

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
