Reporting to the Vice President, Global Climate Strategy, we're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associate, Climate Strategy and Measurement to join our climate center of excellence within the Chief Sustainability Office. This role is located in New York, NY - hybrid.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Partner with the business, Modeling, and Risk teams to maintain the bank's financed emissions models, methodologies, and Scope 3 Inventory Management Plan (IMP).
  • Research and analyze client transition plans and support sensitivity analysis to calibrate the bank's emissions reduction targets and monitor performance.
  • Engage with the business and climate data vendors to collect, validate and manage datasets for Scope 3 measurement.
  • Support workstreams to execute the bank's global climate strategy across key business lines and functions - including through research, project management, preparation of briefing and presentation materials, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the bank's climate-related disclosures (e.g., Sustainability Report, CDP, SEC, CSRD) and related business enablement activities (e.g., RFPs, DDQs, supplier questionnaires, etc.)

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Understanding of financed emissions accounting standards (PCAF, GHG Protocol), target-setting protocols (UNEP-FI, NZBA), climate scenarios (IEA), and climate disclosure standards, frameworks and regulations (TCFD, IFRS S2, ESRS E1, SEC climate rule, etc.).
  • Strong quantitative background preferred, including ability to work with Excel models and analyze, validate and manage datasets.
  • Experience working for a large bank or asset manager, preferably in a role that supports financed emissions measurement and target setting, climate strategy execution, and climate-related disclosure, or experience working for a consultancy firm in a role that supports large financial institutions (FIs) in these efforts.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience; Bachelor's degree in business, sustainability management, quantitative finance, data analytics, or related field.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $56,000 and $110,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.
This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
