Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Oversees and assists in the preparation and review of service company and corporate holdings level financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Responsible for a full understanding of all financial statements and primary associate to answer questions on those statements.

  • Review monthly reconciliations and workbooks prepared by senior and staff accountants.

  • Assists Controller with consolidated financials, footnotes, and other schedules needed for reporting packages.

  • Assists with analyzing new GAAP rules and assessing their impact on the organization.

  • Assists with writing new policies and procedures regarding new GAAP rules.

Department Management & Oversight
  • Oversees daily activities of the corporate accounting department.

  • Assists with the development of employees in the department.

  • Coordinates the preparation of non-routine accounting transactions or reporting functions.

  • Leads the development of associates in the department which includes day-to-day mentoring and teaching the team.

Process Improvement & Policy Development
  • Maintains, evaluates, and suggests additional enhancements to current policies around accounting processes.

  • Assists with writing new policies and procedures regarding new GAAP rules.

Non-Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Special projects as assigned

Education, Work Experience & Physical Requirements
  • Accounting degree required with applicable 6-8 years of experience.

  • CPA Certification strongly preferred.

  • Big 4 experience strongly preferred.

  • Good Excel and computer skills.

  • Experience in public accounting and the real estate industry preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in the field of financial reporting.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability through managerial experience.

  • Strong GAAP knowledge, analytical, and time management skills.
