Job Summary

Responsible for accounting, tax calculations and processes. Examples include federal and state tax estimated payment calculations, deferred tax calculations, tax research, internal accounting, and tax review, etc. Serves as key contributor to evaluate and apply new tax guidance to the Company's operations and reporting.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Income Tax Returns and Payments

  • Performs and/or reviews the calculation of estimated income tax payments to federal and state regulatory authorities; Forecast future cash requirements for tax payments.
  • Reviews and provides support for federal and state income tax returns by gathering data, including collaborating with cross-functional departments to ensure adequate supporting documentation and calculation.
  • Performs and/or reviews the calculation of the research and development (R&D) tax credit for annual income tax returns and coordinates R&D tax credit review with outside accounting firm, as needed.
  • Performs and/or reviews fixed asset additions for tax/bonus depreciation.

Tax Compliance and Financial Reporting

  • Performs and/or reviews tax-related general ledger accounting duties, which includes reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts and calculation of journal entries to facilitate monthly/quarterly closing of general ledger.
  • Performs and/or reviews accounting and tax financial reporting including the tax financial statement disclosures and related footnotes.
  • Reviews cost segregation studies for new facilities and/or coordinate with Accounting Department and outside firm for such preparation.
  • Calculates budget estimates for tax accounts, including timing of expense and cash payments.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to ensure tax compliance through conducting cost segregation studies, monitoring state nexus, conducting internal sales tax reviews.
  • Performs internal review of property tax calculation for property tax insurance.

Accounting Technical Resource

  • Serves as technical resource during tax audits and as key contributor in gathering and reviewing support and coordination with the auditors, as needed.
  • Maintains current awareness of accounting and tax requirements, including new and proposed regulations, and evaluates impact of new accounting requirements to Company.
  • Performs analysis on potential impact of new accounting requirements to Company, working cross-functionally when necessary to understand operations, impact, or disclosure requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • 4 years' experience in Accounting, General Ledger, Audits, Tax or relevant work.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office such as Word, PowerPoint Outlook and Excel primarily with pivot tables, Index/Match, get data, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP, Incorta business intelligence tool (or similar system functionality), and/or Avalara sales tax software.
