Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Complex Maintenance Facility (CMF) Maser/Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Technician to join our team in Fort Irwin, California to support our Deep Space Network (DSN) program with JPL and NASA.

The Deep Space Network is NASA's international array of giant radio antennas that supports interplanetary spacecraft missions, plus a few that orbit Earth. The DSN also provides radar and radio astronomy observations that improve our understanding of the solar system and the larger universe. The antennas of the Deep Space Network are the indispensable link to explorers venturing beyond the moon. They provide the crucial connection for commanding our spacecraft and receiving their never before seen images and scientific information on Earth, propelling our understanding of the universe, our solar system and ultimately, our place within it.

Responsibilities:

The CMF Maser/Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) Technician/Closed Cycle Refrigeration (CCR) is responsible for the maintenance, repair and testing of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) and associated cryogenic and mechanical equipment. Knowledge of RF/Microwave repair, maintenance, and calibration on equipment that operates at RF frequencies above 2 GHz.

    In-depth knowledge of the theory and/or operation of IM&TE and RF systems.
  • Familiar with a wide variety of test equipment, the design and application of measurement techniques, and the operation of complex measuring systems.
  • Logically troubleshoot equipment failures and perform corrective action.
  • Troubleshoot, perform repairs, and maintenance to the component level.
  • Perform reverse engineering techniques when repair documentation is not available.
  • Perform calibrations, tests, and validation work including completion of appropriate performance documentation.
  • Fabricate cables, connectors, and interface devices.
  • Identify performance deficiencies and determine the root causes of equipment failures.
  • Develop new maintenance techniques and methods to improve on existing procedures.
  • Use and facilitate computer automation to operate, calibrate and diagnose problems.
  • Document work performed in a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Work with little or no supervision or technical direction.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-year technical degree (AS) in electronics or military training in the field of Test Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE), Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) or equivalent advanced technology degree program.
  • Two years of experience with cryogenic low noise amplifiers and/or RF/Microwave experience in repair, maintenance and calibration.
  • Experience in repair, overhaul, and maintenance of electrical and mechanical devices.
  • Working knowledge of the computer operating systems as well as the site-specific Maintenance Management software.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and job requirements to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Must possess and retain a valid California drivers' license
  • Ability to work on site up to five (5) days per week, up to 9 hours per day.

Target Salary Range
The rate / range per hour below represents the typical pay for this position based on experience and other factors.
