Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The requirements & responsibilities for a Sr. R&D Scientist are listed below. - Contribute innovative ideas for new products and lead technical projects to develop & commercialize new technologies. - Design, set up and operate bench experiments, gas handling equipment and analytical instrumentation to obtain results necessary to make technical and commercial decisions - Perform safety and hazard reviews/evaluations and evaluate abatement requirements for experiments. Collect and analyze analytical data, interpret results, and draw conclusions, - Conduct hands-on research reliably and efficiently. Collect, work-up and summarize experimental data, results and discussion in written reports. Demonstrate strong organizational skills and initiative. Be able to perform project work with minimal direction. - Communication of technical information to members within and outside the organization. Present technical information to critical customers and/or in a public forum or at conferences. Author publications such as patents & technical articles. - Perform other projects and duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - At least a M.S. but preferably a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and a strong technical background. - Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant field involving the hands-on use of specialty gases - Direct experience with safely handling, delivering, analyzing, processing and/or abating reactive or corrosive gases used in synthesis, purification or related areas and can quickly become self-sufficient and productive. Ideally prior experience with designing gas handling manifolds to conduct gas experiments and/or analysis. - Familiarity with gas handling equipment and materials including mass flow controllers, pressure controllers and regulators, various line valves, pressure transducers, pressure relief systems, restrictive flow orifices, thermocouples and temperature control equipment, purification materials and hardware. - Analytical experience to measure trace impurities in gases in lab or process environments using FTIR spectroscopy, GC, GC/MS, GC-ICP-MS, APIMS, RGA, CRDS and other moisture analysis methods, Particle measurement, TGA. - Ideally experience with gas applications in industry, lab- scale processes, gas synthesis, materials compatibility, micro-contamination, ultra-high purity systems and environments, i.e. use of clean rooms - Proficiency in Microsoft programs and ideally experience with LabView, Themo Omnic/MKS MG2000/Vista FTIR software, MKS Process eye RGA software, GC data handling software, controls software etc. Here are a few good reasons: Compensation package including: - Excellent Health Benefits Package; Medical, Dental, Vision - Top-of-the-line 401(k) Retirement Plan with company match - Paid Time Off; Holidays, Floaters, & Sick - Life Insurance - Short-Term Disability

Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 per year DOE.
