Job Summary

The Director of Product Development is responsible for providing leadership in James Avery's product commercialization planning, technology optimization and talent growth by driving the development of new product lines and enhancement to existing products. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Design, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to define product requirements and ensure alignment with company goals and objectives. Leads the Product Development Team to ensure the timely and successful delivery of products, while fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement. Identifies and mitigates potential risks & issues and ensures compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout the new product commercialization process.

Essential Functions

*Oversees the execution of department activities, assuring all design form, fit and function, released into volume manufacturing, meet the original intent of the design to align with strategic new product introduction goals (schedule stability, on-time development and quality).

*Guides department leaders in the establishment of technical deliverables to ensure quality and productivity yields are achieved for designs released into volume manufacturing.

*Evaluates department project plans/schedules with changing priorities and fosters open communication to develop alternate solutions/timelines.

*Collaborates with Design to implement design changes that balances manufacturability and design intent.

*Drives cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing Operations and Technology leaders by identifying and investigating new technologies and manufacturing methods.

*Collaborates with Supply Chain to ensure sourcing strategies and supplier management tactics incorporate current and future product development needs.

*Ensures talent and facility capacities align with strategic business plans.

*Oversees the development and approves the strategic list of department continuous improvement projects.

*Directs department activities to meet On Time Delivery, Stability and Quality KPI's performance goals.

*Coaches direct reports to develop and execute training initiatives and learning opportunities in order to strengthen skills throughout the company.

*Partners with direct reports to establish and execute the department budget.

*Responsible for the overall leadership, direction and evaluation of Associates within department.

Minimum Qualifications

*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, Material Science, Metal Arts or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

*8 years' managerial experience in product development, jewelry fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or relevant experience.

*Strong analytical, CAD and 3D printing experience.

*Proven communication, team building, training, strategic planning and organizational skills.

*Ability to travel to facilities or vendors, as needed (domestic and international).

Preferred Qualifications

*Extensive industry experience in traditional jewelry fabrication.

*Second level managerial experience.

*Proficient in rapid prototyping technology and techniques.

*Proficient in 3D CAD modeling software.
