What you will do:

A Production Planner works with both managers and production employees to ensure the company hits its production goals on time and within budget. A Production Planner, or Production Scheduler, manages the scheduling and timeliness of the production process to ensure the company meets all customer orders. The duties of a production planner include managing material and equipment availability, scheduling production and monitoring the production process for problems.

How you will do it:

  • Develops and issues weekly product line master production schedules for subassembly, final assembly, electric heat, and coils operations areas to achieve schedule and customer order on-time delivery objectives.
  • Responsible for integration of product line subassembly requirements within the master production schedule and daily run schedules for each subassembly department.
  • Serves as product line team leader and facilitator interacting with production supervision and production staff to achieve schedule objectives.
  • Holds product line production status meetings, as required.
  • Identifies and resolves issues impacting production planning and schedule attainment objectives.
  • Maintains KPI metrics reports for planned vs. actual schedule attainment, schedule adherence, downtime, on time delivery shipment, and headcount for the production areas (Coils, Press Shop, Final, Subassemblies, Parts Orders).
  • Reviews schedule constraints with a cross functional team of operations, engineering, and sales to ensure production line up and sequence can be optimized for efficiency and delivery.
  • Performs quality check of the paperwork for documentation errors, to reduce/avoid rework in the production floor.
  • Prints all job paperwork, build sheets and diagrams for productions areas.
  • Works with Customer Service and Engineering to create backorders and partial shipments.
  • Assists in the gathering of Johnson Controls Management Systems Assessment data to achieve Materials Management Excellence Leve 3 JCMS
  • Facilitates cross-functional expert teams to drive Best-in-Class performance in People, Quality, Material Flow, and Cost.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.
  • Finding ways to improve production planning processes, scheduling, and reduce costs.
  • Using market forecasts and competitive analysis to anticipate necessary production changes.
  • All other tasks as assigned.

What we look for:

  • Associate degree in an appropriate field of study (i.e., Business) with a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of experience in production planning and scheduling.
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities in an organized fashion and to make confident decisions. Must be a team player and interact well with diverse workforce. Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficiency in ERP software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift forty pounds.

  • Has demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses intermediate to advanced computer skills experience specifically with spreadsheet applications (MS Excel) required.
  • Support JCMS and continue developing the Materials Culture within Johnson Controls
  • All other tasks as assigned.
