Under close supervision, the Food Service Associate performs a variety of food service duties.

Job Essentials


As a Multi Service Tech (Environmental Services Technician / Patient Transport / Food Service) you need to know how to:

  • Cleans patient rooms or dismissal units; duties include but are not limited to disinfecting all surfaces, emptying trash, cleaning of sinks, counter areas, shower and toilet, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restocking paper products, and shampooing carpet.
  • Disinfects all public areas duties include but are not limited to sinks, toilets, washing walls, damp mop, and refill paper products, stairwells, damp disinfecting all areas, disinfecting handrails, replacement of blinds and shampooing carpets, buffing or waxing of floors in areas where needed.
  • Follow proper procedure for separating regular waste versus biohazardous waste, disposal of needles, and storage of clean and dirty linens.
  • Transports patients and equipment (beds, wheelchairs) to various treatment areas throughout the hospital in a safe and efficient manner 100% of the time.
  • Assists in transfer process of patient from bed to mode of transportation.
  • Operates cash register and follows cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Restocks and rotates food items as needed in food retail areas.
  • Coordinates the maintenance and repair of department equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with Conference Room set-up and tear down.
  • Collaborates with assigned Manager and Supervisor to evaluate and problem solves service needs and volumes and adjusts work assignments accordingly, to ensure safe and quality patient care.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with federal and state legal regulations and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations requirements.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire (Transport)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of active experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Bio Hazardous Waste certification may be required within six (6) months of hire (Environmental Services)


Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

Interact with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.- and -Operate computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.- and -See and read computer monitors and documents.- and -Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.- and -May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
