Job Description

FlexStaff Staffing Services is seeking a Quality Manager to join our client's team, a registered ISO 9001 company that designs and manufactures products for the military and aerospace industry. This position is permanent, full-time, onsite at their Suffolk County location.

The Quality Manager is responsible for implementing and executing inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to ensure that products adhere closely to company standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
  • Set QA compliance objectives and ensure that targets are achieved.
  • Maintain awareness of the business context and company profitability.
  • Assess suppliers' and own company's product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards and legislation, including ISO 9001
  • Approve standards and establish clearly defined quality methods for staff to apply.
  • Consider the application of environmental and health/safety standards.
  • Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
  • Set up and maintain controls and documentation.
  • Identify relevant quality-related training needs.
  • Collate and analyze performance data and charts against defined parameters.
  • Ensure tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out, and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
  • Supervise technical staff in carrying out tests and checks.
  • Write technical and management system reports.
  • Bring together a staff of different disciplines and drive the group to plan, formulate, and agree to comprehensive quality procedures.
  • Persuade reluctant staff to change their way of working to incorporate quality methods. Liaise with customers' auditors and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications.
  • Establish standards of service for customers or clients.
  • Prepare clear explanatory documents such as customers' charters.
  • Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.

Direct management of the QC Department

  • Supervise QC staff.
  • Set priority for inspection based on production meeting input.
  • Supervise special testing -
  • Maintain Environmental lab - testing equipment (all kinds of testing per Customer or Engineering Dept)
  • Supervise environmental testing performed by independent testing labs.
  • Inspect reports for special jobs.
  • Review and resolve/follow up on all nonconformance products from recent inspections from all departments.
  • Supervise MRB processing.
  • Conduct Contract review - quality issues as needed.
  • Review customer specifications as needed.
  • Supervise DMR processing.
  • Supervise RMA evaluation and processing.
  • Supervise final, in-process, and source inspection of assembly.
  • Provide root cause and failure analysis.
  • Provide incoming inspection, final inspection, and in-process inspection - if needed.
