Job Title: Regional Voter Protection Director
Reports to: Deputy Voter Protection Director
Salary: $5,750/monthly, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)
Start date: Spring 2024

The Opportunity: The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is seeking Regional Voter Protection Directors to assist in spotting and resolving voter protection issues, build relationships with local election administrators, and help voters more easily access the ballot. This position will report to the Deputy Voter Protection Director.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with election officials, party leadership, campaigns, and other stakeholders within assigned regions.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of the laws concerning election administration, voting and related issues, as well as a current knowledge of ongoing goals/activities of other relevant stakeholders.
  • Recruit, train, manage and serve as a resource for voter protection volunteers.
  • Manage Statewide Voter Protection programs, including outreach to municipal elections officials.
  • Implement a comprehensive voter protection plan to identify and triage problems with absentee voting and Election Day voting.
  • Help educate voters on their voting rights and options, including but not limited to collecting early vote information, managing our voter education website, and conducting voter education training for volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Manage direct reports in all aspects of their work and support their success in the role by conducting relevant coaching conversations, providing and receiving feedback, and creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
    • Managing and reviewing time off requests
    • Hiring new team members
    • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
    • Building rapport and trust within your team
    • Leading projects and delegating tasks
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

  • Commitment to the DPW's Values - A strong commitment to protecting the right to vote and expanding access to the ballot, advancing the Democratic agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning elections.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Experience managing staff and volunteers
  • Proficient in VAN, LBJ, Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets.
  • Political organizing and/or campaign experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Hmong
  • Previous voter protection, poll observer, poll worker, or hotline volunteer experience.
