As a grant and contract analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing externally funded grants and contracts, creating and monitoring financial accounts in the University systems, accounting reconciliations and preparation of invoices and financial reports, aged accounts receivable, cash management, account closeout, and interaction with sponsoring agencies and university personnel.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

* Award/account management:

o Interpret complex award terms and conditions such as obligations of funding, expenditure allowability and prior approval requirements. Review and analyze external funding documents for acceptance approvals, completeness, and compliance with University procedures. Create and maintain award data in the University research and financial administration system. This includes identifying terms and conditions such as period of performance, budget authorization, invoicing, reporting, carryover, closeout requirements and budget/expense restrictions. Use multiple online systems for award acceptance and management.

* Invoicing and Financial Reporting:

o Prepare complex invoices, financial reports, invention reports and other administrative reports using University systems and other resources. Manage the collection and allocation of cash received from these reports. Closeout awards in the financial and research systems according to sponsor and University requirements.

* Expenditure Monitoring:

o Review, monitor and approve expenditures to ensure alignment with budget and scope of work. Foster an atmosphere of compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, University policies and sponsor policies.

o Complete reoccurring monthly monitoring duties of: Deficit review expired account review, accounts receivable status, cash balance review, backstop report, administrative system exception report, monthly budget and financial adjustment log.

* Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

* Capacity to learn and work independently, including in a remote work environment

* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

* Organization and time management skills

* Attention to detail and follow-through

* Accounting and financial management practices and principles

* Proficiency with computer systems; particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Adobe PDF. Ability to learn new systems and adapt to changes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience and 1+ year of relevant work experience.
  • Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or have another protected status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to be ITAR/EAR compliant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with UA or other university financial, research and database reporting systems
  • Experience preparing accounting reconciliations and analyzing transactions and data pertaining to proposal, grants and contracts administration
  • Experience with laws and regulations pertaining to proposal, grants and contracts administration
