Summary

The Innovation Manager at Flowers leads a cross-functional team that has end-to-end ownership over advancing innovation in products and processes. Position is critical to the successful growth of the business and will drive innovation that will have a profound impact on the future direction of Flowers Foods. The Innovation Manager will drive the innovation stage gate process by leading the cross-functional Innovation team and presenting to the Innovation Leadership Council at each of the gates. Position will collaborate with the Innovation Director, Business Unit Partners, Supply Chain Partners, Procurement Partners, and all members of the cross-functional team on executing innovation projects from concept to launch. The Innovation Manager has the opportunity to significantly impact the innovation strategy and execution that aligns to Flowers Foods' overall vision. It is imperative that Innovation Managers at Flowers be creative, strategic thinkers that will disrupt the bread and snacking industry through innovation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ability to guide Innovation Leadership Council through each gate review and aligns on approval to move onto next stage
  • Understands company business model, customers' needs, marketing, and product positioning
  • Executes the annual business plan in partnership with cross-functional colleagues to deliver successful innovation projects that adheres to approved annual budget
  • Tactically builds reporting functionality to track against an annual business plan
  • Ensures all new products are following current food regulations
  • Participates in strategy sessions with Brand Team and Cross-Functional Team members
  • Maintains positive working relationships with cross-functional partners. Solves any challenges
  • Collaboratively develops business cases for all proposed innovation items
  • Confidently leads unbiased product review/cuttings for assigned projects.

Primary project contact for innovation projects and leverages PLM to drive new idea submissions to cross-functional partners

Desired Experience

*7+ years of innovation, marketing, brand management, and/or R&D experience.

*Cross-functional experience spanning marketing, commercialization, sales, and supply chain.

*Experience with new product development and brining ideas/products to market

*Project management experience preferred

Desired Education

Bachelor's degree minimum; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
