Job Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI)-Langer Lab, to join the multidisciplinary Jaklenec Group. Will contribute to the development of mRNA-lipid nanoparticles and be involved with rigorous testing of novel drug delivery systems using animal models, particularly focusing on mRNA-lipid nanoparticle fabrication and characterization. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments for the fabrication of lipid nanoparticles, including formulation development and optimization; characterizing lipid nanoparticle properties using techniques such as dynamic light scattering, transmission electron microscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance; assessing the stability and mRNA loading capacity of lipid nanoparticles through rigorous characterization studies such as RiboGreen assay; collaborating on integrating lipid nanoparticle technology into therapeutic applications; reporting on progress; training and coordinating the work of research support associates/students/employees/temporary staff; ensuring compliance with established standards/regulations/laboratory procedures; and maintaining lab instruments.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: B.S./B.A. in biological sciences/chemistry/material science/engineering/other relevant field; willingness to work with animals, including performing injections and collecting bio samples; two years' specialized lab experience (may include undergraduate experience); experience working with and maintaining technical instruments/equipment; comfort summarizing and reporting results; commitment to exceeding quality standards and producing accurate, high-quality work; strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills; awareness of basic safety issues and ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment; and willingness to learn new tools/techniques. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team; multitask; and plan, organize, and coordinate work assignment/experiments simultaneously. PREFERRED: M.S.; relevant experience with micromolding techniques, nanoparticle synthesis, and/or microneedle fabrication; experience with characterizing drug delivery materials, biological assays, controlled release, biomaterials, chemistry, protein stability, molecular biology, immunology, and/or virology; and experience working with animals.
