The Supplier Quality Engineer monitors, inspects, and evaluates products to ensure predetermined quality standards are met. This role involves developing and updating testing-related documentation, including test cases, plans, and flaw-reporting procedures. The Supplier Quality Engineer provides quality assurance support to the product development team, resolving bugs, defects, and other potential issues, and ensuring that products meet customer specifications.

The work environment includes exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) may be required in this role, which is considered Safety Sensitive. Some travel to mines, supplier locations, etc., which may include overseas travel, is required. On occasion, the Supplier Quality Engineer will need to work with production personnel during the assembly and testing of the rigs.

Responsibilities:

  • Review design plans, process procedures, test procedures, and quality manuals to understand the scope, requirements, and function of products.
  • Ensures products meet the organization's and customers' quality and product integrity requirements.
  • Supports the product development or operations team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process.
  • Identifies root causes of problems in the production process and recommends and/or implements corrective measures.
  • Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing future defects.
  • Performs other assignments as instructed by the manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Sciences relevant to the manufacturing sector.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Strong innovation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced technical skills and a solid understanding of the product.
  • Proficiency with software tools required to complete tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Preferred certifications such as Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or training in Total Quality Management (TQM) are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, professionally, and collaboratively with others within the organization.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and developing time management skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to participate in cross-functional teams to develop new products, sustain current products, detect problems, implement solutions, assist operations, and provide aftermarket support.
  • 2+ years of experience in a role supporting manufacturing across different industries.
  • Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, preferred
