Job Description

Position Overview

As an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Mechanic/Welder, you will play a crucial role in the sustainment of the Amphibious Combat Fleet located at Camp Pendleton, California. This position requires expertise in mechanical repair and welding, focusing on ensuring the operational readiness of combat vehicles. The role involves direct support to our customer, interfacing with military personnel, and executing repair tasks with precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with Field Service Representatives (FSR) regarding vehicle diagnosis, repair time, required parts, and technical observations.
  • Independently troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair vehicles with little to no supervision.
  • Interface with military and internal company organizations to provide necessary data and support.
  • Drive vehicles as required and maintain a positive image of self and company's products and services.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
  • Use common sense and defined procedures to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate courtesy and tact in exchanging information within the department and project team.
Skills Required
  • Certified welder with mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in vehicle operation, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Familiarity with military maintenance systems and technical manuals.
  • Competence in interpreting engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Proficient use of hand tools, shop tools, and power tools.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Skills Preferred
  • Experience in welding, including reading blueprints and sourcing materials.
  • Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and grinding materials to specifications.
  • Knowledge of standard repair procedures and welding techniques.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and ensure repairs meet standards.
Experience Required
  • 4 years' work experience in mechanical/electrical/electronic fields or relevant military products.
  • Knowledge of military maintenance systems and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, shop tools, and power tools.
Experience Preferred
  • Experience in reading blueprints, performing welding tasks, and checking finished work.
  • Familiarity with various welding machines and tools.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Education Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant Associate's degree or military school training.
  • Certification as a welder.
Education Preferred
  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) in ACV/LAV Repairer or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of stick welding, plasma cutting, and laser abrasion removal.
Licenses/Certifications Required
  • Class A CDL license
  • Welder's certification
  • Secret clearance or ability to attain
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, move about, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
