BASIC RESUME WRITING


The most important tool in a job search is your resume, yet it is also perhaps the most misunderstood. Having a great resume is essential in a job search – it’s the primary communication tool to the stakeholders involved in the hiring process.

A resume is:

  • A summary of your employment and educational history
  • A tool used to get an interview

A resume is NOT:

  • A chronological record of your work history
  • A static, one-size-fits-all document

Of course, the unique thing about resumes is that there is no standard format. Ask twenty different people about resumes and you’re likely to get 20 different answers.
